What is Aeternity (AE)?
Future of AE Cryptocurrency and know how to buy AE

#1 - What is Aeternity

Aeternity is one of the newly launched cryptocurrencies witnessing some pretty rapid commercial adoption. The coin seems to be leading on the technology front as it is leveraging and scaling Ethereum’s blockchain technology.

Aeternity : The Basics

  1. Aeternity is a decentralised open source digital-asset platform that works on P2P technology. The Aeternity cryptocurrency is denoted by the symbol AE. Its total supply is 273.6 million AE tokens.
  2. Aeternity’s ICO was launched in April 2017 with a mainnet launch is scheduled in Q3 2018.
  3. It uses the hybrid Proof-of-Work (PoW) and Proof-of-Stake (PoS) & supports sidechains. Aeternity mining is done from Decentralised RAM instead of GPU or CPU which enables decentralization.

#2 - What are the benefits of Aeternity?

Aeternity Development

  1. Aeternity was developed by Yanislav Malahov, who is also the Godfather of Ethereum. The platform is backed by a strong technical team and has successfully launched Blockchain 3.0 to port maximum ports to its platform.
  2. It is also planning to launch a series of incubator and accelerator programs (Starfleet) to support the entire blockchain system and push for mass adoption of Aeternity blockchain technology adoption.
  3. The development team is trying to add more security layers to its existing consensus mechanism and smart contracts and lower costs. Aeternity technology is being regularly updated for a mobile-first approach to blockchain to make it the most accessible network for developers.

Aeternity Technology

  1. The hybrid Proof-of-Work (PoW) and Proof-of-Stake (PoS) algorithm determines block-order and ensures governance through delegated voting. It also allows development of better random access memory (DRAM) chips with better feasibility & lesser electricity.
  2. Aeternity’s Smart contracts are supported by High Level Machine, Aeternity Ethereum VVM for faster execution, Functional Typed Warded VM which can execute contracts in Sophia & Chalang (functional languages) and Aeternity Ethereum VVM for migration to smart contracts from Ethereum.
  3. Aeternity’s name system is used for account addresses on Aeternity, hashes like that of Merkle trees. It makes the platform decentralized yet secure as it maps from unique human-friendly strings to fixed-size byte arrays.
  4. Scalability increases throughput with sharding. It separates transactions and smart contracts requests in a group of nodes called shards. New users must have at least one copy of the state. This can be sharded (or shared) into multiple nodes to keep only a small amount of load on each node.
  5. State channels can be opened by 2 or more parties whose account balances are noted onto the blockchain throughout the duration of their blockchain use. All participating parties of the channel have to sign for transactions. This fastens the transaction without any transaction charge.

Features

  1. Smart Contracts: Credible transactions are made without third trusted parties. Oracle integrates smart contracts with the real world data like election results, prices of assets such as gold, weather conditions, etc. This tamper-proof data helps those smart contracts whose fulfilment depends on such data.
  2. Consensus mechanism:  The hybrid of PoW & PoS enable Aeternity’s consensus mechanism that lets users choose various values of the system’s parameters which are validated by Oracle which is the doorway to data hosted on other blockchains
  3. Self-arbitrating: Smart contracts can be executed off-chain without touching blockchain. Smart codes are enforced by the blockchain only when there is a disagreement between the contracting parties. So, the contract remains private as the blockchain acts as a  self-arbitrating crypto court.
  4. Secure Transactions:  Aeternity blockchain technology has built a fraud-resistant network where transactions are irreversible. This enables various use cases like high-end gaming.

#3 - How to Buy and Store Aeternity ?

How to buy Aeternity

Aeternity blockchain can be used by spending aeon token or AE token. Payment of system fees and settlement of smart contracts is done via aeon tokens.

Aeternity is available on multiple exchanges like Binance, Hadax, Liqui, Gate.Io Bithumb, Latoken, etc. But with the AE cryptocurrency being available over many exchanges, it can get difficult to get the best price for your transactions. This is where CoinSwitch steps in.

  1. While cryptocurrency exchanges provide you with a platform to buy or sell the Aeternity cryptocurrency, CoinSwitch, the largest cryptocurrency conversion platform, comes in to help you make the right decision by providing the prices for AE. It makes it possible for investors to invest in Aeternity tokens and also store it securely using an ERC 20 compatible wallet. This way you can choose the best deal for you!
  2. You can also buy, sell and trade over 300 cryptocurrencies for Aeternity. It offers interchangeability and unified experience for all cryptocurrencies with a wide offering from all major exchanges.

Aeternity Storage

Aeternity is an ERC 20 token, which can be stored in ERC20 compatible wallets. Some of the compatible wallets are:

- MyEtherWallet

- Ledger Nano S

- TREZOR

After the mainnet launch, ERC20 tokens will have to be exchanged for AE tokens for which the existing wallet compatibility may change.

#5 - How is Aeternity different from other cryptocurrencies?

As discussed earlier, Aeternity has multiple standout features making it unique from most other cryptocurrencies.

  1. AE Miners and token holders have the right to vote on proposed changes, unlike many other cryptocurrencies.
  2. Since smart contracts are run on state channels, Aeternity is able to offer low-cost commercial transactions and thus make it the most efficient Turing.
  3. Single-point-of-failure is eliminated because of Aeternity’s best in class cryptographic data structures.

#6 - Should you invest in Aeternity?

  1. Aeternity is a thriving ecosystem as it supports cross-chain trustless atomic swaps between different tokens and asset classes which can increase its usability and adoption.
  2. Aeternity can handle off-chain payments through its state channels which enable anonymous and instant micro and nano payments.
  3. Aeternity users can unlock funds only when Oracle or the voting resolves the outcome to be reached with the funding to ensure that good or service provider is paid only after they deliver. This decentralised Fintech feature can lure investors and governments to raise funds.
  4. The growing gaming industry will also attract investors to use AE tokens as transactions are instant and users have full control of their in-game transactions with no intermediaries.
