EOS has gained popularity in the past few years as a second-generation blockchain platform. Its main function is to create an ecosystem so that the blockchain architecture can be leveraged by various applications. But beyond that, the EOS coin, which is the native coin, is becoming increasingly popular. There are many wallets that support the EOS ecosystem, but the SimplEOS is one that is made for the EOS. The SimplEOS IO aims to fully integrate and utilize the features of the EOS software.
Step 1: The first step to set up the wallet is to download the installable from a trusted source. In order to choose a trusted source, you need to do your own research. Depending on the OS of the machine you are about to install, choose the file accordingly.
Use .exe for Windows, .AppImage if you have Linux OS and .dmg for MacOS.
Note: SimplEOS does not store any information in any database or cloud servers; all the information is stored locally. Since the private keys are stored in your computer, ensure that you do not download apps or visit websites that are suspicious. Once you have downloaded the software, you are bound by the terms of service.
Step 2: Install the application by clicking on the appropriate file as per the OS of the machine. If you are installing on a Windows machine, you will have to accept the terms of service as the Microsoft Code signing Certificate is not yet purchased by SimplEOS.
Step 3: There are two login options available.
Use existing key: During installation, there are two login options; one of them is to use the existing key. Here, you can import the existing private key by entering the Private key and the password. Once you enter and confirm the password, the next step is to agree to the EOS constitution. Once you click on the ‘I Abide By the Constitution’ checkbox, click on Finish to complete the setup.
Import Exodus Wallet: Open the developer menu on your Exodus Wallet using Ctrl+Shift+D on Windows and Linux and Exodus menu next to Apple Symbol in MacOs. Once the developer Menu is open, go to Assets, EOSMainnet, Export Private Keys. After this, follow the instructions and export the private keys. Select a password and retype the same for confirmation. Click on Next, read and agree to the EOS constitution and click on Next. The next step is to set the LockScreen PIN, which you can skip if you don’t want to set. This LockScreen Pin, if set, will have to be used to enter the SimplEOS screen next time. This screen will display a Finish button; clicking on it will complete the installation of the SimplEOS wallet.
Advance security measures taken by this wallet makes this the best choice for your EOS. It is a desktop wallet that stores private keys locally and needs a simple backup and proper encryption with a password.
Any information that has to be fetched outside the blockchain is done via a proxy server provided by the parent company. That prevents server misconfigurations and malformed data.
