Coming just before the festive season this month, the time of the year is when shopping platforms like Flipkart witness large buy orders and a surge in sales volumes, the venture could translate into significant profits for Flipkart.
The Polygon connection: Another win for India
The company has partnered with eDAO for the venture called Flipverse. eDAO is a Polygon-incubated firm meant for content creators, brands, and fans looking to launch into the Web 3.0 ecosystem. Polygon, the India-based platform is helping brands like Flipkart to transform their customer experience as they transition from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0. So the Indian e-commerce major’s partnership with eDAO is a win for India in more ways that one.
Commenting on Polygon’s role, the company’s co-founder, Sandeep Nailwal, said: “Combining top brands with Flipkart’s e-commerce expertise in a virtual environment stands to revolutionize online retail as we know it. Flipverse will be a vibrant, visible expression of the metaverse, and I’m proud that this activation is taking place on Polygon.”
What’s new for users?
With the move, the e-commerce major is transforming itself from Web 2.0 to a Web 3.0 platform. Flipverse will offer gamified, interactive, and immersive experiences. The user interface also presents two-dimensional static product catalouges, which will be showcased in 3D rendered store displays.
Users will be able waltz around the store and browse through the products. They can also use it to get a chance to collect the company’s loyalty points, called Supercoins, as well as digital collectibles from partner brands.
“The idea is to have millions of users experience Flipverse and open the doors to the future of shopping,” a brief from the company reads.
The company is partnering with “a wide range of brands,” including Puma, Tokyo Talkies, Noise, Lavie, VIP, Ajmal Perfumes, Nivea, Campus, and Himalaya, to set up experience theaters on Flipverse.
