What Is Crypto? (Cryptocurrency Explained)

Cryptocurrency, often called Crypto, is a type of digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security and operates on decentralized networks based on blockchain technology. Unlike traditional currencies issued by governments, cryptocurrencies are not controlled by any central authority, such as banks or financial institutions.

Cryptocurrencies allow people to send, receive, and store value online securely. Transactions are recorded on a blockchain, which is a distributed ledger maintained by a network of computers. This system makes Crypto transactions transparent, secure, and difficult to manipulate.

The most well-known cryptocurrency is Bitcoin, which was introduced in 2009. Since then, thousands of other cryptocurrencies have been created, including Ethereum, Solana, and Litecoin. These digital assets can be used for various purposes such as online payments, investments, decentralized finance (DeFi), and digital applications.

Many people buy Crypto as an investment, while others use it to transfer money quickly across borders without relying on traditional banking systems. As the technology continues to evolve, cryptocurrencies are playing an increasingly important role in the global financial ecosystem.
