Ethereum cofounder launches new crypto project

Andiami

Anthony Di Iorio, one of the co-founders of Ethereum, the world’s second largest crypto by market cap, unveiled a new blockchain project on 8 October 2022. Di Iorio, who is also the cofounder of the gaming ecosystem Decentral and blockchain wallet Jaxx Liberty, spent the last decade envisioning, designing and building the project called “Andiami.”

The project was kicked off as part of a two-day Web3 and Blockchain World (W3B) summit in Toronto.

With his latest, Di Iorio joins the ranks of other Ethereum cofounders who launched their own blockchain projects. He follows in the footsteps of two fellow cofounders at Ethereum: Gavin Wood, the man behind Polkadot, and Charles Hoskinson, who launched Cardano.

However, unlike his precursors’ products, Cardano and Polkadot, Di Iorio’s brainchild is not meant to rival Ethereum. Instead, it was created to complement the second-largest crypto by market cap and to promote decentralization. The latest launch blends game theory with cutting-edge hardware to bring blockchain computers to a wider audience.

About Andiami

The project timeline extends to 2025. It involves the launch of tokens and a new protocol. At its core is the idea of shipping 3,000 console units known as Cubes to people worldwide. The people to receive these units will be chosen randomly from a white list.

Di Iorio describes the Cubes as Xbox-like devices that will counter blockchain centralization. They aim to do this by enabling crypto users to run nodes (computers) with little to no technical expertise.

The first phase, slated for release in 2023, focuses on the project’s game theoretic components. A game titled The Quest for Liberty, a player kit and Digital Life Tokens that players earn are slated for this period.

Andiami will culminate in 2024–25 with the launch of The Cube, a specialized, plug-and-play computer specifically designed to run a variety of full nodes. Put simply, they are blockchain computers for crypto users. The Cubes are expected to be available by the end of 2024. It will sell on a sliding scale from $300 to $5,000.

The project name Andiami stems from the Italian word “andiamo,” which means “let’s all go.” The name he coined by modifying that term translates as “Let’s all go together,” Di Iorio revealed at the launched.
