Game of Thrones is getting a digital makeover. Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and HBO have teamed up with NFT platform Nifty to launch NFTs based on the popular HBO series.
The NFT collection dubbed “Game of Thrones: Build Your Realm” is a collaboration with digital production company Daz 3D. Daz 3D is best known for launching NFT projects for CloneX by Murakami and RTFKT, DC’s Bat Cowl Program, and the Friendship Box NFT for Coca Cola. Nifty, the popular NFT marketplace, announced the GoT-inspired digital collectibles on their blog website on 2 November.
NFTs seems to be the flavor of the season. CoinSwitch had reported on 22 September that Warner Brothers had teamed up with lifestyle brand Funko to launch an NFT collection based on DC Comics.
Jeff Marsilio, CEO and co-founder of Nifty, commented on the rationale behind choosing to launch Game of Thrones NFTs. He said rarely a film or television series comes along that pushes the boundaries of its genre. GoT has changed the creative landscape and has become a part of our collective cultural identity, Marsilio added.
By launching the NFTs, the creators aim to expose the massive fan base of the famed television series to the world of digital collectibles. At the same time, it allows fans to immerse themselves in the show’s magical world, enhancing the overall fan experience, according to Josh Hackbarth, Head of NFT Commercial Development for Warner Bros Discovery.

While an official launch date was not announced, Nifty said the NFTs would be available in late 2022. As the year draws to a close, GoT fans can expect the NFTs soon. According to Nifty’s, the initial sale will begin with the release of avatars inspired by Game of Thrones. Starting which GoT NFT, owners can begin building their own realm. The avatars will be clubbed with digital collectibles that collectors can use to upgrade their avatars. Further, the NFT collection will include an assortment of digital collectibles, including weapons, companions, and gear, allowing collectors to customize their avatar’s stats.
Other collectible types will include iconic moments, locations, characters, and more from the iconic GoT series.
