What Is a Crypto Node?
A node is a computer that runs the blockchain's software and keeps a copy of the ledger (or part of it). Nodes receive and relay transactions and blocks. They validate rules (e.g. signatures, supply) and help the network agree on the same history. Without enough nodes, the network would be less secure and decentralized.
Types of Nodes
Full nodes store the entire blockchain and validate everything. Light nodes store less and rely on full nodes for some data. Miner or validator nodes also propose new blocks. Running a node does not require mining or staking; you can run one to support the network and verify data yourself.
Why It Matters
Nodes enforce the rules. No single party can change the protocol without others accepting the change. When you use a wallet or exchange, you are ultimately relying on nodes (yours or someone else's) to know the true state of the chain.
