What Is a Seed Phrase?

A seed phrase (recovery phrase, backup phrase) is a list of 12 or 24 words that your wallet uses to generate all your keys. If you lose your device, you can restore the wallet on a new device by entering the same words in order. Anyone with the phrase can control your funds. Write it on paper and store it offline in a safe place. Never store it on your phone, in email, or in a screenshot. Never share it with anyone. Legitimate services never ask for it. Losing the phrase usually means losing access forever.
