What Is Crypto Order Book?

The order book is the list of pending buy orders (bids) and sell orders (asks) at different price levels. Bids are below the current price; asks are above. When you place a market buy, you "take" from the asks; when you place a market sell, you "take" from the bids. The order book shows liquidity: deep books mean large orders can be filled without moving the price much. Thin books mean more slippage. The "spread" is the gap between the best bid and best ask. Limit orders add to the book; market orders remove from it.
