What Is Trading Volume?

Trading volume is the total amount of an asset (or value in INR/USD) traded over a period (e.g. 24 hours). High volume often means more liquidity (easier to buy/sell without moving price) and more market interest. Volume can confirm breakouts: a price move on high volume is often seen as more meaningful. Low volume can mean thin markets and more slippage. Note that some volume can be wash trading (fake). Use volume as one metric along with price action and fundamentals.
