What Is Wallet Backup?

A wallet backup is a way to recover your wallet if you lose your device. For most non-custodial and hardware wallets, the backup is the 12- or 24-word seed phrase. Write it on paper and store it in a safe place. Some wallets let you export an encrypted file; that is only useful if you also remember the password. Without a backup, losing your phone or hardware device can mean losing access to your crypto forever. Test the backup by restoring once (e.g. in a new app) with a small amount, then delete the test wallet if needed.
