What Is Web3?

Web3 is a broad term for applications and services that use blockchains and crypto. The idea is a more decentralized internet where you own your data and assets (via wallets and tokens) instead of relying on a few big companies. In practice, Web3 includes DeFi, NFTs, decentralized identity, and blockchain-based social or storage projects.

How It Differs From Web2

Web2 is the current model: central platforms (e.g. social networks, cloud providers) control accounts and data. Web3 aims for ownership and control through wallets and smart contracts. Not every "Web3" project is fully decentralized; many still have teams and companies behind them.

Reality

Web3 is still evolving. Some products are useful; others are speculative or risky. When you use Web3 apps, you often connect your wallet and sign transactions. That can expose you to smart contract and phishing risk. Never share your seed phrase and only use trusted interfaces.
